FILIPOVIC DENIES GREATER PART OF BORDEN'S ARTICLESBelgrade,
April 11, 2001 - Journalist Miroslav Filipovic wrote a letter to Belgrade daily
Danas denying the greater part of the information contained in a series of
articles about his arrest last year and the espionage court proceedings against
him. Danas began publishing this
series Tuesday. Borden is the executive manager of the London-based Institute
for reporting on War and Peace. Filipovic
asserts that a greater part of the stated in the series of articles "does
not correspond to the truth," and that he himself was not the source of
information: "I really must deny my alleged connection and discussion with
any officer of the Yugoslav Army, even more so with an 'officer of the military
intelligence,' and especially my alleged knowledge about the existence of a 'report,
written in eight pages' on a research on the morale in the Army," Filipovic
wrote in a letter published by Danas on Wednesday. "Such
an officer may exist, such a report may exist, too, but I have never had it in
my hands, nor have I spoken about it with anybody, not even with an Army officer,"
Filipovic added. Filipovic said that he would really be glad if he could have
averted or prevented any conflict and suffering, and especially the plans for
war in Montenegro, but that his own capacities were not even close to it. ANEM WEEKLY MEDIA UPDATE, APRIL 7 - APRIL 13, 2001 |
