TV studio PrizreniI INTRODUCTIONTV studio Prizren is a local television which is
for the time being functional and has been broadcasting limited program: 2 hours
in the morning and 2 to 3 hours in the evening 18.30 - 20.30(21.30).
Broadcasting is done through terrestrial transmitter system and for now it
covers only Prizren Region and according to information from the field it covers
Gjakova, too. Technical and staff capacities of this TV are very limited. TV Studio is placed in the premises of the House of Culture "Xhemali Berisha" in Prizren. The programs broadcast by this studio, for the
time being, are very limited and in many occasions improvised. At this
moment all the broadcasting is done only in Albanian. TV Studio Prizren is a juridical subject, it is
registered and has a temporary broadcasting permission until 15 November, 2000.
This permission has to do with the election campaign. In TV Studio Prizren there
are ten employees. Professional qualifications of the staff are not fascinating, however, with maximal engagement of all the staff, we manage to broadcast the program, however modest it is. TV Studio Prizren is in the phase of its consolidation and creation of qualified professional staff, independent in their public activity. We plan to have staff of 5 people. Of this number,
now in the consolidation of this studio, three people are engaged, who do the
work on voluntary basis, without any compensation, and Prizren Legal Club, which
offers professional legal assistance. II DESCRIPTIONThe objective and independent information of the
population is basis of democratization and development of one region. The
informational darkness always, in modern life conditions, is base for
intolerance, self isolation of a society, apathy and real disorientation in time
and space, but also a base for creation of a collective illness as Erich From
defines it “Escape from freedom”. In one word it’s a base for an
intolerant and undemocratic society. TV Studio Prizreni, as emphasized in the
introduction, is now an active TV Studio and although technically limited,
understaffed and in relation to this qualitatively limited, it produces a
program in which it takes part with it’s own productions in more than 60% of
the overall transmissions. Morning programs The duration of the morning programs is 2 hours,
from 09:00 till 11:00. Programs: The news (repeat of the last night
edition); overview of the press and program for children. These programs are
mostly own production, except that sometimes in absence of programs for children,
similar programs of sister TV Studios or cartoons are broadcast. Programs for children, with usual duration of 30
60 minutes, are mostly of own production. They are based on school programs
for special occasions, children festivals organized in town or in other centers,
cartoon mostly borrowed and sometimes on a short film. The press overview program presents actual daily
press in Albanian in Kosova and lasts 30 minutes. Evening programs The duration of evening program is 2 3 hours
and that from 18:30 20:30 (21:30). Programs: Daily news; reports; music program;
drama or film; open studio (once a week for 30 minutes); News together with
TV Kukes; humor and music. Daily news -everyday from 18:30. Duration 20 30
minutes Reports 2-3 times a week from 18:40 (19:00).
Duration 10 15 minutes. Achievements in different sections of public life are
presented in this reports. Musical programs 2 3 times a week from
19:00. Duration 30 minutes. These programs are usually borrowed from another
station. Drama and film program 2 3 times a week
from 19:30. These programs are borrowed not to use a different more severe
term. The drama programs are usually in Albanian and they are produced in other
centers. In this slot sometimes, because of shortages, documentaries can be
shown instead, which are also borrowed. Open studio contact program with a guest in
studio, usually a personality from public life. These persons are international
ore domestic. We discuss the certain problems in public life with the
possibility of telephone interaction with audience. This program is once a week
on Tuesday or Thursday from 19:00. Duration is 60 90 minutes, depends on
number of callers. The end of week informative program. Once a
week on Friday at 19:00. Duration 30 minutes. Joined news program Every evening from 20:30. Duration 30 minutes. This is a joined program with TV Kukes. The transmission can be seen in Ulcinj Montenegro. Covers a wide territory: The Dugagjini area (Prizren, Gjakova, Peja), Northern Albania (Shkoder, Kukes, Bajram Curri) and a part of Montenegro (Ulcinj). Music and humor programs are programs,
usually borrowed, and they are shown 2 3 times a week. The type of program is
different folk, pop, rock and classical. The humor programs are in Albanian
usually, but also they are some in English with subtitles. III. FUTURE GOALSFrom the above presentation is easy to conclude
that the program is poor and far away from the quality of a good local station.
The aim is to transform this station to a professional local station, which will
have program’s for all the minorities who live in the region (Serbs, Bosnians,
Turks and Romas) with adequate minutes. Other than this orientation, so called
socio-politic, the aims are orientated towards creation of a program scheme that
will cover different areas of life and all the age groups.
