FEW WORDS ABOUT "ZERI"
("VOICE"),
THE MOST INFLUENTAL WEEKLY IN KOSOVA
HISTORY
Weekly "ZERI" has 54 years of existence. It was established
in 1945. "ZERI" is independent and liberal weekly.
LEGAL STATUS
"ZERI" is registered within the Economic Court in Prishtina.
Court registration sign and number is FI.11137/93 (Registration date 24.12.1993).
MEGAMENT STRUCTURE
The members of the Menagement Board are: Blerim Shala, Editor-In-Chief;
Ismajl Musliu, Director; Bardh Hamzaj, Editor; Shkelzen Maliqi, Editor. The staff has 22
employees. It is furnished with computers: five 268 PCs, two 486 PCs, one 586.
PRINT RUN AND RETURNS
1.690 issues of this magazine were published until now. Magazine has A4
format, 68 pages (60 black and white, 8 color pages). It is the most influential weekly in
Kosova. Currently, the average circulation of "ZERI" is 8.000 copies, with 30%
remittent (unsold issues). It has 15 correspondents throughout the world.
SALES AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
Partly (around 20%), through Enterprise "Panorama" (former
"Rilindja"). They take 43% of every copy. Other 80%, through our distribution
network.
AIMS OF "ZERI"
The aim of the staff of "ZERI", particularly from 1989 (fall
of Communism) and on, is to promote Western political and intellectual values, to create
an atmosphere of dialogue between Albanians themselves, and a peaceful resolution of the
Kosova problem.
In nowadays circumstances, the main aim of "ZERI" is:
- To support the process of the political resolution of the Kosova question;
- To support the process of the democratization of the Kosovar society;
- To offer information, reflections and evaluations of major Western centers regarding the
Kosova question, and the democratization process of this part of Europe to the Kosova
public.
As far as promotion of the Western political and intellectual
conceptions, during the last three years solely, "ZERI" has interviewed: Klaus
Kinkel, Lawrence Eagleberger, Hans Van Den Broeck, Robin Cook, Wolfgang Petrisch, Carl
Bildt, Thorvald Stoltenberg, Tadeusz Mazoviecki, Elizabeth Rehn, Leni Fischer (Chairman of
the European Council), Daniel Tarchys (Sekretary General of the European Council), Frank
Svalen (OSCE Chairman), Klaus Hansch (Chairman of the European Parliament), Gert Ahrens,
Rudolph Perrina, and a number of international experts: Janusz Bugajski, David Anderson
(ASPEN Institute Berlin), Jan Oberg (TFF Instiute Lund), Barnet Rubin (Center for
prevention in New York). Michael Roux, Jonathan Eyal, Jens Reuter, Theo Sommer, Thanos
Veremis, Jean Bodriar, Alain Glucksman, Pasqual Bruckner, Edgar Morin (the last four are
prominent French philosophers), Jurgen Habermas, George Steiner.
