A1 Television Facts
A1 Television was founded on 22, January 1993, as the
first private and independent TV station in Macedonia with aim to become a
Balkan informative television. The current number of employees is
approximately 100 (managing and editorial board, journalists, reporters,
announcers, technical stuff, marketing, administration) and a large number
of corespondents and external cooperators.
Since the very beginning, the program of A1 TV included
all types of TV expression - Information, Culture, Arts, Documentaries,
Entertainment, Sports and Children's program. The main element is the
Informative program - central news bulletins at 19:00 and 22:00, short
news every hour, round tables, interviews and dialogues.
A1 TV does not only provide information on culture and
arts but also has its own video art production. Several Video and
Documentary productions have taken place on the number of European
Festivals, such as the London Film Festival, Artvideo Festival in Locarno
(Prix de Council of Europe), Moscow, Bulgaria etc. Our projects were
awarded on international festivals (Golden Antenna, Montre), while the TV
film N.E.P. was the only domestic film which was selected for the London
Film Festival.
From the beginning we decided not to follow other
station's practice of pirating. and present only programs that we have
rights for. The most popular and exclusively ours are the rights for the
NBA matches and for English FA Premier League and FA Cup.
At present we are working on our transmitter network,
which will provide coverage of approximately 85% of the territory of
Macedonia. The current coverage is 68%. Our plans for the future are to
establish a stronger informative program through increasing direct
coverage (corespondents, studios ...) of events, establishing of a
documentary department, starting the exchange program on the Balkan level
and continuos investment in technology with aim - complete digitalization
until 2000.
